The lobbyists have spoken and the government has listened.
It is the job of government to protect its population not profits .
"It is the job of government to protect its population not profits."
It used to be, but this pack of arseholes have smashed a lot of conventions like that to pieces in less than two years.
The challenge is to see how much of Aotearoa NZ we can restore if we (hopefully) can wrest our country back from them next year. Greens and TPM are up for the fight, not so sure about Hipkins-led Labour.
Tau Henare: "It's a play for the dumb red neck vote. It shows how backward National have slipped. Be glad to see them go," he said.

Hear Here Tau.
"These jobs will thrive – but others may vanish – as AI transforms Australia’s workforce"
Pretty sure most of this is applicable here.
"The most exposed occupation is data entry clerk, for which the International Labour Organization estimates 70% of the tasks currently done by humans could be done or improved by AI. Bricklayers and dental assistants, at the other end of the scale, are among jobs classified as “not exposed”.

In this podcast, (Diary of a CEO) Geoffrey Hinton advises people to train to be a plumber.
How to point to market failure whilst not actually calling it market failure:
Great to see the ex-Nat leader claiming that govt intervention is the only way to revive the economy, while trying real hard not to be seen to be doing so.
Simon also points to current govt policy as an excellent method for eliminating Auckland's excessive population:
Such accurate targeting of economic problems is something the govt ought to be proud of and Simon's tepid approval doesn't quite give them credit for this. Getting all the kiwis out of Auckland and across the Tasman ought to remain as the coalition priority.

Then the foreigners left in Ak could set up an independent state & crowdsource a name for it. It's obscure aristocrat from the early 19th century could then head for the dustbin…
Simon Bridges has suggested Luxon, Willis, Seymour etc need to stimulate Auckland. I would suggest those 3 have been very busy stimulating something, especially Seymour, he is a real stimulator
I think all three have been busy stimulating Seymour.
I have been waiting for the screams from farmers about the new RUC charges. What about paying road tax while using their utes on the farm?
Not sure what you're on about, all our utes have rucs and do on farm kms, I'd have to ask the boss if there's a Rebate system ,
There is a Rebate system for on farm petrol use to claim back the road tax portion, so a switch to full rucs will get rid of that bit of paper work .
Screams ! Thought this was another move to shift the tax burden from them.
All those farm k's that were exempt from RUC's will also not have paid any tax on the fuel under this change.
Have I missed something ? I see they're flooding the zone with a 4 year term now as the flags been done.
What kms are exempt, I think your making shit up
I stand to be corrected as I was told if you're not on a public road you dont pay RUC.
Roading contractor I worked at ensured it logged every K not on a public road to claim back those RUC's.
There seem to be a very large range of vehicles that are exempt but they seem to be those that are only rarely used on the road. It wouldn't seem that a Ute is likely to qualify.
There all listed here. It is a long list so I won't include the material here. Most of them are vehicles whose design means they are unsuitable for on-road use.

Cool I can't understand why some here seem to think that's a bad thing if it isn't on the road it should be exempt,
Utes already pay RUCs Janice
This government seems to be trying to take us back to the 1930s.
Despite the depression, the rich still got rich. The rest more or less starved.
Māori were subjugated, men were men, and women knew their place.
